Or do I want to order a bigger doll/body so this fellow (luts summer 2012) who is pending face-up is not doomed to an eternity of floating head-ness. I have another floating head too (luts winter 2011) but I'm not attached to it at all and am using it to practice painting the faces.

I finally reordered the painting supplies I need to attempt painting it again. I had to give them away when I moved from Japan because of shipping restrictions. A big thank you to my brother and sister who gave me the amazon giftcards I used to order the sealant and stuff. I'm kind of excited to give it another shot even though the first time was a total failure. XD

Merry Christmas

I was hoping that if I waited for the daylight I would be able to get good light but alas it was raining. I probably should have carted the lamp I've been using at night down the stairs since it helps a lot. XD My mother has the cutest Christmas props.

Sewing attempt #2

Was going to add reindeer ears but got tired. Never using that kind of fur again everything is coated in a layer of fuzz. Sewed the hems too close to the edge this time instead of too far away so instead of being tight and hard to get on it's too big on her. Will maybe fix that later. It's falling apart in places because of that anyway! Now I want to make design changes and try again but that fur is just...no.

Hoodie attempt #1

Ok so I decided to leap in and attempt to sew something basic. I will try for version two soon since this one is less than satisfactory. The basic pattern is from dollmore but I made some changes to it. I am going to possibly use the pattern as a base and completely redraw it for next time so I can use a more complex design. I still want to do a whole series of these. This is just made from some scrap cloth from my mother's pile of scrap cloth.

Notes for improvements:
-Sew smaller margins, particularly for the hood/sleeves.
-increase sleeve length
-add cover cloth at the ends of the sleeves/sweater
-Attempt holes to attach puppy ears/tail and then sew over the layer with the lining
-cut out cute puppy patch for extra decoration because I can (or just do vector art in photo-shop and use transfer paper so it is flatter)

design notes for myself:
-try adding a face on the hood as well (cute)
-try adding animal figure cutouts (cute)
-make a separate hat/jacket for similar feeling
-add lace/ribbons/bows other details for more aesthetic appeal
-planned animals: spotted puppy, panda, blue lovebird, white rabbit, black lop-eared lace rabbit, cat, bear, jellyfish, lion

Kitty Angela

Angela is a kitty. I need to be awake during the day so I can actually take pictures when I have light, they look dreary at night. I took some today anyway since I realize it has been a month so I should stop making excuses about it being dark. XD I may try to sell some stuff so I can buy new stuff. I have some clothing that doesn't really fit anyway.

Nanowrimo is finished! I won and wrote 50,000 words. Now I am working on a secret santa art piece. After I finish that I will start storyboarding the comic. After all, I have a script now!

I also drew out some sketches for cute animal hoodies I want to make...I will size down and alter some patterns and give sewing another try now that I have access to a sewing machine. No promises that will turn out well though haha I am a complete novice at sewing!

Mohair wig

I got tired of my little sheep sitting around bald so I stuck this mohair wig on him since it was sitting around and light colored. He normally wears a black wig but I worry about it staining his forehead with dark colors so I usually leave it off him. It was a lot more fun to play with than I thought it would be. Since you can move the hair around and it is super fluffy. Kiki folder was from went I went to see the Ghibli exhibit in the local art museum. I bought a book with a bunch of layouts that is really interesting to look at as well. Conveniently the descriptions are in Japanese AND English. :D

My sister was visiting and took some cute group shots. She is amazing to make them look this good in poor lighting.

Angela's Outfit

I am officially back in America and not working in Japan, at least for the time being.

I bought Angela a little clothing set with a cute little slip with a tutu skirt and a sweater with a ridiculous rabbit tail pin which I can take off. I left her brown wig on since I am sure the black one will need untangling after moving. I figured it suits the all brown outfit anyway. The Staples logo in the background is kind of annoying, sorry. I'll have to turn that box before I take any more pictures. It's filled with art supplies.

More Yoshi

Since the weather is nice today I took some more pictures of Yoshi. That glowing cream white skin of sooms is growing on me. He really likes having his hand up for some reason but I just kind of let him. He also wants his head to be looking at the ground...

Also last week it started pouring rain as I was walking home from work. I was dripping wet and so were all the papers in my bag and this little guy was stuck to the ceiling right in front of my door hiding from the rain too.

One leg.

Ok this is probably super silly but I was really excited that I got him to balance on one leg. I have tried before and gotten him to do it once but this time I jokingly tried to do it in a post with his arms flailed out and he held it. And even let me move his arms down to his side where the weight is less balanced as in the picture above. He wouldn't let me move the head down though. Oh well. Sorry for blurry badly lit photos. I was super worried he was going to fall the whole time haha. And here I am playing with my dolls in the middle of the night when I should be asleep.
