Flower pictures were all arrangements done by me using flowers from when I was taking flower arrangement classes when I lived in Japan. Currently I live in North Carolina.Fluffy Doghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12693128048069088049noreply@blogger.comBlogger89125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3129332404059413495.post-76559663744980798302013-06-14T16:32:00.000+09:002013-06-14T16:32:39.054+09:00Angela FlowersI figured the pink flowers deserved some love too, so here they are framing my lovely yet sad girl.

I put them in an interesting little vase I borrowed from her that was in her cabinet. Yoshi needs a new outfit badly.

I haven't posted much while I was taking classes. Leon sat next to me while I was working on my really long paper and kept me company haha. It's summertime so I am looking forward to working on some art projects, including trying to repaint my practice head and maybe paint my other blank head as well. I still want to get him a body at some point, I feel sad for him. I may try to sculpt my own doll of some kind as well.Fluffy Doghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12693128048069088049noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3129332404059413495.post-12128467954716617052013-02-24T12:10:00.000+09:002013-02-24T12:10:14.672+09:00Painted head.
I had not posted this even though I did it months ago because it was too embarrassing haha. I can't make lines straight with a paintbrush at all. I tried cutting a brush smaller this time and that was a total failure because then instead of just being too thick they were crooked too! After I had a couple shoot random directions on the eyebrows I was just like WHATEVER and made them go everywhere. XD I will practice control with a brush for a while or maybe just give the watercolor pencils another shot.Fluffy Doghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12693128048069088049noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3129332404059413495.post-31523038802836712022013-01-26T11:30:00.000+09:002013-01-27T15:33:40.718+09:00New ChairThey had a couple of wicker doll chairs at goodwill. I got the plain one for $2. My mom wanted me to get the one for $4 that someone had glued pink satin, fake pearls, plastic roses, and lace to the chair but I opted for the non-girly one so everyone could use it. It's actually too big for my MSDs and would probably fit an SD doll instead. I can stick two of them in there together. :D It's still cute though and for $2 it's worth the price...

The lovely Angela (luts salgoo).

Someone on den of angels requested pictures of her posing and I got a little too into it and took about 200 pictures... I did all the poses I could think of at the moment. I forgot to take one of her on her knees in seiza, she CAN sit that way although there are large gaps in the knees since they are not double jointed. If anyone thinks of any poses to add let me know and I'll go for it. She has not been sueded or restrung, and she does not have kips. I only did poses she will easily hold and did not try to do any balancing games with her (for example standing on one leg or bending over far while standing is difficult for her). I only adjusted the colors for the first image...there were just too many to do them all quickly.

Some notes about posing:
-Her head can look up more on the left than the right. Compared to my soom doll the head has way more of a range of motion.
-The arms pose really well but the shoulders have problems holding the arms at certain angles, if you add a kip into the shoulder it helps a lot, I did that with my kdelf boy. My soom doll comparatively has a lot of trouble with his arms posing because the elbow joint is terrible.
-The girls pose a little better than the boys because they have an extra swivel joint at the top of the thighs. It also takes me a couple seconds longer to balance them standing because of this, one more thing to adjust.
-Her arm CAN reach up to touch her face. I forgot to take any pictures where the elbow piece snaps out to bend her arm in more.

Do I want...

This one...

...or this one.

Or do I want to order a bigger doll/body so this fellow (luts summer 2012) who is pending face-up is not doomed to an eternity of floating head-ness. I have another floating head too (luts winter 2011) but I'm not attached to it at all and am using it to practice painting the faces.

I finally reordered the painting supplies I need to attempt painting it again. I had to give them away when I moved from Japan because of shipping restrictions. A big thank you to my brother and sister who gave me the amazon giftcards I used to order the sealant and stuff. I'm kind of excited to give it another shot even though the first time was a total failure. I probably should have carted the lamp I've been using at night down the stairs since it helps a lot. XD My mother has the cutest Christmas props.

Never using that kind of fur again everything is coated in a layer of fuzz. Sewed the hems too close to the edge this time instead of too far away so instead of being tight and hard to get on it's too big on her. Will maybe fix that later. It's falling apart in places because of that anyway! Now I want to make design changes and try again but that fur is just...no.

Ok so I decided to leap in and attempt to sew something basic. I will try for version two soon since this one is less than satisfactory. The basic pattern is from dollmore but I made some changes to it. I am going to possibly use the pattern as a base and completely redraw it for next time so I can use a more complex design. I still want to do a whole series of these. This is just made from some scrap cloth from my mother's pile of scrap cloth.

Notes for improvements:
-Sew smaller margins, particularly for the hood/sleeves.
-increase sleeve length
-add cover cloth at the ends of the sleeves/sweater
-Attempt holes to attach puppy ears/tail and then sew over the layer with the lining
-cut out cute puppy patch for extra decoration because I can (or just do vector art in photo-shop and use transfer paper so it is flatter)

design notes for myself:
-try adding a face on the hood as well (cute)
-try adding animal figure cutouts (cute)
-make a separate hat/jacket for similar feeling
-add lace/ribbons/bows other details for more aesthetic appeal
-planned animals: spotted puppy, panda, blue lovebird, white rabbit, black lop-eared lace rabbit, cat, bear, jellyfish, lion

I need to be awake during the day so I can actually take pictures when I have light, they look dreary at night. I took some today anyway since I realize it has been a month so I should stop making excuses about it being dark. XD I may try to sell some stuff so I can buy new stuff. I have some clothing that doesn't really fit anyway.

Nanowrimo is finished! I won and wrote 50,000 words. Now I am working on a secret santa art piece. After I finish that I will start storyboarding the comic. After all, I have a script now!

I also drew out some sketches for cute animal hoodies I want to make...I will size down and alter some patterns and give sewing another try now that I have access to a sewing machine. No promises that will turn out well though haha I am a complete novice at sewing!

He normally wears a black wig but I worry about it staining his forehead with dark colors so I usually leave it off him. It was a lot more fun to play with than I thought it would be. Since you can move the hair around and it is super fluffy. Kiki folder was from went I went to see the Ghibli exhibit in the local art museum. I bought a book with a bunch of layouts that is really interesting to look at as well. Conveniently the descriptions are in Japanese AND English. :D

I bought Angela a little clothing set with a cute little slip with a tutu skirt and a sweater with a ridiculous rabbit tail pin which I can take off. I left her brown wig on since I am sure the black one will need untangling after moving. I figured it suits the all brown outfit anyway. The Staples logo in the background is kind of annoying, sorry. I'll have to turn that box before I take any more pictures. It's filled with art supplies.

That glowing cream white skin of sooms is growing on me. He really likes having his hand up for some reason but I just kind of let him. He also wants his head to be looking at the ground...

Also last week it started pouring rain as I was walking home from work. I was dripping wet and so were all the papers in my bag and this little guy was stuck to the ceiling right in front of my door hiding from the rain too.
Fluffy Doghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12693128048069088049noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3129332404059413495.post-32808332212509864452012-08-22T01:58:00.001+09:002012-08-22T01:58:09.430+09:00One leg.

Ok this is probably super silly but I was really excited that I got him to balance on one leg. I have tried before and gotten him to do it once but this time I jokingly tried to do it in a post with his arms flailed out and he held it. And even let me move his arms down to his side where the weight is less balanced as in the picture above. He wouldn't let me move the head down though. Oh well. Sorry for blurry badly lit photos. I was super worried he was going to fall the whole time haha. And here I am playing with my dolls in the middle of the night when I should be asleep.

Oh wow this made me too excited. My doorbell rang and I was like...oh no another adorable advertiser I am going to make feel awkward when I don't speak Japanese. But it wasn't. My flower arrangement school sent me a flower for my birthday and had it delivered to my door! It's three days late but they have been on vacation I know. And actually it's my sisters birthday (Happy birthday Jaime). It made me super happy. Leon is modeling the flower because he was the only one that had a wig on at the moment.

I'm not surprised they knew it was my birthday though. My workplace ordered a big bouquet for me for my birthday from my flower arrangement school. I divided the flowers from it into warm and cool colors. They are almost dead now. I neglected to take pictures in the daytime so all you have are the ones taken in my apartment's horrible horrible lighting at night. I'm really happy because I admire both my teacher and his mother a lot, they are both so talented!

I wanted to show the tiny cranes one of my students made for me. Well I made the two grey ones because she wanted me to try it too. I took a couple pictures with Angela and Leon too. :)

I also took a whole bunch of pictures when I opened then but I had only posted them on Den of Angels. You can see box opening thread here: BOX OPENING THREAD. Or if you don't have Den of Angels you can just look through the pictures on photobucket.

Here's a family shot where you can see where I tried on the hooves. He's super loose with the regular legs on so I either need to put the hooves back on or restring his legs.

Also a picture without his wig.

More later but here's my new little elf.Fluffy Doghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12693128048069088049noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3129332404059413495.post-35765882870604337982012-08-09T01:18:00.000+09:002012-08-09T01:18:00.749+09:00Matsumoto Bon Bon Festival + Shipping Notices

Last Saturday was the Matsumoto Bon Bon festival which means the entire city was filled with people dancing the same dance to the same song. This festival is super charming and the song gets stuck in your head. The little kids were the cutest. My little video camera's battery was almost dead but I managed to get like seven minutes worth of video before it died completely. Which means you get some of the normal dancing from when I stopped for a minute so the camera isn't swaying but not the crazy girls doing modern dance hilarity to English pop/rap up on the stage.

In other news, my little elf shipped which means he will be here in time for my birthday on the 13th. I'm super excited even though I haven't ordered either of the wigs I was thinking of for him yet...not like I don't have a ton lying around he can wear anyway. XD

Since his name is Yoshiki and I keep calling him Yoshi I bought him a little Yoshi plushie....Fluffy Doghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12693128048069088049noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3129332404059413495.post-15370044777668565472012-08-03T22:57:00.000+09:002012-08-04T00:19:15.037+09:00August PostersTomorrow is the bonbon festival. My easy week of only a few classes a week is over which is a pity because I was having fun drawing posters and songs. I drew some pretty funny little bunny foo foo visuals but forgot to whip out my handy dandy cellphone to take pictures of them.

I drew two posters.

The first poster was based off the song six little ducks. There are five on the bottom and one in the top right corner. Mostly every time I see kindergartners walking around after their teachers they look like little ducks to me.

The second poster was beauty and the beast themed...this one is for Thanksgiving.
Fluffy Doghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12693128048069088049noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3129332404059413495.post-16937232197044132852012-07-29T12:52:00.001+09:002012-07-29T13:32:11.862+09:00Angela- Black WigI forgot to take pictures of her in this black wig originally. It looks surprisingly good on her actually. It's super long and actually goes past her feet and drags on the ground though so she probably is not going to hang around in it. I just snapped some quick photos but will take some more with it later.

They're mostly colored with crayons or half dead procky markers. And the pictures were taken with my cellphone so the colors are kind of washed out. At work they always ask me to draw posters which they can write information on and stick outside the door to the building. The characters are from the company storybooks. XD

I didn't buy this today but a couple of weeks ago. Still it's from Frog Street. They were having a Frog Festival...so I went and got a snack to eat. It's filled with custard, not red bean paste. But it was warm and delicious and now I can say I've eaten it. :)Fluffy Doghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12693128048069088049noreply@blogger.com0
